Fons Pitiús de Cooperació
The Ibiza and Formentera Fund for Cooperation was created
in late October 1999 with the intention of coordinating the efforts
of all the institutions in the islands of Ibiza and Formentera,
aimed at the opening of awareness ways and taking up concrete cooperation
projects with impoverished countries, collaborating with NGO's.
Among the main actions to be done stand out:
a) To introduce the Fund's work to the institutions and the
society of Ibiza and Formentera, so that they take part in all its
activities.
b) To make that all public institutions and private bodies
of the two islands get involved in development cooperation tasks
and earmark a minimum 0.7% of their respective budgets to these
projects.
c) To consolidate the activities to be carried out by the
three work areas of the Fund: project financing, ability to respond
in emergency situations, and awareness.
The Ibiza and Formentera Fund has 16
members, of which 3 are town councils, which means that 50%
of towns of the islands are present in the Fund. The Government
of the Balearic Islands and the Ibiza and Formentera Insular Council
have been members of the Fund since its foundation.
