Fons Menorquí de Cooperació
The Minorcan Fund for Cooperation was created in 1993
with the support of public administrations, NGO's, civil society
and city bodies, with the common goal of favouring a cooperation
which promoted, both in the North and in the South, local participation
in the design of an economically sustainable and culturally plural
development model. Among its objectives are the financing of projects
in developing countries, the society awareness, the public report
of Human Rights violations and the diffusion of the Fund's activities.
The Minorcan Fund is organized in two areas:
a) Cooperation area: financing and monitoring of projects
in five fields: immigration, promotion of sustainable economical
alternatives, strengthening of civil society and democracy, emergency,
and basic needs.
b) Awareness area: coordinating of NGO's and Administrations
in activities like awareness (exhibitions, conferences, etc.), education
for development, training, documentation, and diffusion.
Since its creation, the Minorcan Fund has counted on 100% of towns
of the island, 100% of NGO's, and numerous city bodies. In the last
years, the number of members has increased, particularly collaborating
and individual members. At present, the Minorcan Fund has 25 members,
amongst which, the Government of the Balearic Islands and the Minorcan
Insular Council.
