Fons Valencià per
la Solidaritat
The Valencian Fund for Solidarity was created in 1992
in order to channel, in a coordinated way, the resources which town
councils and other Valencian bodies earmark for cooperation projects,
for a sustainable and total development of the world's most underprivileged
peoples.
Its activities are distributed in 3 working areas:
a) Managing and diffusion area, whose objective is
to manage and divulge the activities done by the Fund, among the
highest number possible of institutions, town councils, and among
the Valencian society as a whole.
b) Cooperation area, in charge of managing the projects presented
by the NGO's for development and their partners from the South,
approved by the Fund, and to which 90% of the totality of the annual
budget is alloted. The Valencian Fund also takes part in the Emergency
Committee of the Valencian Autonomous Region.
c) Awareness area, through which several programmes are carried
out, such as the Plan for Training of Municipal Volunteers on International
Cooperation, the Conference for Solidarity in the municipalities
from the Valencian Fund, conferences for those in charge of cooperation,
exhibitions, etc., with the objective of touching, also in the North,
upon the causes of poverty.
The Valencian Fund is formed nowadays by 106
members; the Generalitat
(Valencian Autonomous Government) holds the Honorable Presidency.
